Biography (1947, Russia) Born in Leningrad into the family of the well-known artist and teacher David Alkhovsky. In 1973, he graduated from the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture, in Viktor Oreshnikov's studio. Final degree project: 'Sporting Weekdays'. Member of the Artists' Union. Master of the cityscape. He worked in a studio on Vasilievsky Island in St. Petersburg. Most of his works were painted in the environs of that island. Alexander Alkhovsky was an indefatigable experimenter and has a clear connection to today's avant-garde artists, although he was not part of any group. The subjects of his paintings, sometimes dazzlingly vivid, bold, and always compact, are characterized by modern rhythms and vigorous colorful combinations. He has taken part in numerous art exhibitions and his works are on display in many regional museums.
