Biography Graduate of the Institute. I.E. Repin (1960). Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. Classic of the cityscape. Participated in exhibitions since 1962. He graduated from a Secondary Art School, then from the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (1954–1960), in Boris Ioganson's studio. His degree final project was a series of Leningrad cityscapes: Nevsky Prospekt, The Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment and Twilight. After graduation, he taught at the Vera Mukhina Higher School of Art and Design in Leningrad, in the Department of General Painting. At the same time, he was extremely prolific, completing many creative works – mainly urban landscapes. From the beginning of the 1960s, Igor Suvorov regularly showed his works at city, Russian and All-Union exhibitions. In 1962, he was accepted as a member of the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Artists' Union. Throughout the years, the artist has remained faithful to the main subject of his work, chosen during the process of working on his final degree project: the Leningrad cityscape. The works he created during the 1960s and 1970s put him among the leading masters of this genre. Another theme in the artist's work is the remote and untouched nature of northern Russia: Karelia, the Northern Urals, the Ladoga and Vologda Regions. On 28 January 1989, the first individual exhibition of his works opened in the Leningrad Branch of the RSFSR Artists' Union. The art historian Mikhail Tubli published an illustrated catalogue for the exhibition, including an article about the artist. Igor Suvorov's works can be currently found at the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg and in various museums and private collections in Russia, Finland, China, Japan, Britain, France and other countries.
